There was a time when security prices were delivered to the traders via telegraph on a ticker tape machine. The trade prices and volume would be recorded and traders would learn to “read it” to get a sense of where the market was going.
This tape was made by the Ribbon & Ticker Paper Company of Paterson, New Jersey. The seller told me he found it in the basement of an old home. The age is estimated to be in the early 1950’s.
